Reports say that the Ford Bronco Pickup Truck is dead

Three different types of Blue Oval trucks will suffice.

Although it seems strange to report on the rumored cancellation of a project, as we have all seen, the Ford Bronco follows its own rules. It’s basically the same as today with Automotive News declaring that Ford’s plans to build a Bronco pickup is cancelled.

Although those plans weren’t officially announced, it was widely believed that Ford intended to send the Bronco in battle against Jeep at every level. This included the Gladiator which would have been the sole target for a Bronco equipped with a bed. We won’t know for sure what Ford’s unconfirmed Bronco pickup design would have looked like.

rumors about a Bronco pickup were first heard just over a year ago. This was July 2020. This credible rumor pointed to a targeted release of the Bronco pickup truck in 2024. Official Ford design sketches later confirmed that this was possible. History supported the building of a new Bronco truck because the original Bronco was still available as a truck. Ford expressed interest in creating a Bronco brand. There was no reason to believe Ford wouldn’t do this.

Oder was it?

The Jeep Gladiator is a mid-size pickup truck that fills an important role in American brands under Stellantis. The Dodge Dakota was killed a decade ago. Ram and its full-size offerings were the last trucks in the former FCA North American stable. Ford has revived the mid-size Ranger to sell in the US, and it will be receiving a major update in 2023. The compact Ford Maverick has received 100,000 reservations ahead of its scheduled on-sale date in late 2018. Ford already has a wide range of pickups available in various sizes and shapes. Is there even a Bronco version?

The looming problem of continuing supply problems is also affecting Ford production. Also, there are persistent quality issues with tops that have a lot of Broncos sitting inactive awaiting updates before they can ship out to dealers. This is so serious that 2021 Bronco production was stopped early due to it. It’s difficult to launch a new product if you don’t have the product you already own.

However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see a Bronco truck one day. The immediate plans, however unofficial, have been put on hold for the time being.
