Jeep’s entry in the small truck market was made with the CJ-8, which debuted in 1981. The chassis was a stretched version the CJ-7. There were generally four- and six-cylinder options available, but a V8 was only available in 1981. The 1986 model year saw the end of sales.

The Ball and Buck CJ-8 is a nice rig, but it is only for someone who wants modern off-road capability with a classic appearance. Even if you aren’t looking for a rugged rig this is the price to get a lot of vehicles.
