They will both be shipwrecked to a desert island.
Richard Hammond is the accident-prone cohost of The Grand Tour and will be joining Tory Belleci, her accident-prone former host of Mythbusters for a new Amazon series that’ll have them both on an island. There are many things that could go wrong.
This six-part series won’t see Hammond or Belleci waiting to be saved. According to Grand Tour Nation, the two will instead be responsible for building a “paradise islands playground.” They will be limited to what is available at the shipwreck, and what they can find on the island. This should allow them to do some engineering and creative thinking. The creations can range from island-hopping vehicles and a hydro-power waterwheel.
The show’s details are not available, but given the hosts’ history and other antics on-screen, it will likely feature cool creations and tons of trial and error. There will also be plenty of laughs and a familiar format. Although this isn’t directly related to cars but Hammond’s passion for building unusual cars and Belleci’s knowledge of building and breaking them could make for a great on-screen combination.
There will be some form of transportation featured on the show. We don’t know whether Hammond will have enough materials to make something that looks like an automobile. However, that doesn’t mean Hammond won’t try to accomplish such feats. Every episode will feature the hosts creating and engineering something new.
According to Variety, Georgia Brown, director for European Amazon original series at the Edinburgh TV Festival announced the show’s name but it is still unknown. The new series will not be released by Amazon, but Amazon Prime Video UK posted a tweet confirming that the show would soon be available. The series will be available in more than 200 countries when it releases it.
