This rendering, instead of the Tesla pickup would be the go-anywhere electric pickup
A thread is created to discuss other models. Rivian should be made, the people behind the Rivian Owners’ Forum Imagine a crazy version R1T Pickup with six wheels and a higher ride height. Although the result is a bit extreme, it looks great.
St00k, a forum member, suggested the idea of a Rivian “something similar to a Ford Raptor.” These renders were posted by the forum administrator who commented that although it might seem a bit excessive, it should still work.
This rendering is quite different from the Rivian R1T standard electric pickup. It has many modifications to make it more rugged. The front of the pickup features a subtle custom brush bar that follows both the bumper and the headlights. The roof is adorned with a pair of LED light bars. The style bar at the side of bed visually extends the cab when looking at the truck from the front. For larger wheels and knobby offroad tires, large flares on the fenders cover them.
The Rivian Owners Forum envisions an additional battery under the bed liner as a major mechanical modification. Rivian has already made plans to offer the R1T the largest battery pack available on the market, with an optional 180-kilowatt hour capacity. The extra battery would increase the vehicle’s off-road range.
Rivian plans to offer the pickup with one of three powertrain options, according to the Los Angeles Auto Show 2018 debut. Base model offers 402 horsepower (3300 kilowatts), 413 pounds (560 Newton-meters), a 105-kWh battery that provides a driving distance of over 230 miles (370 km). The middle step is 754 horsepower (562 kW), 826 pounds-feet (1,120Nm) and a 135 kWh lithium-ion battery that has a range of over 300 miles (483 km). Although the range-topping model has 700 hp (522kW) and 800 lb-ft (1 1,120 Nm), it packs a 180-kWh battery that can go over 400 miles (644 km).
Rivian is now taking preoders. Rivian plans to offer the R1T at prices starting at $69,000, before any tax credits. Production should begin in 2020.
