It’s only…
With the Skoda Octavia RS Combi and Cupra Leon Sportsourer, the Volkswagen Group has dominated the compact wagon market. What if the German automobile conglomerate decided to go one step further? X–Tomi Design’s rendering helps to imagine an Audi RS3 Avant.
The RS4 Avant is being viewed as the modern-day successor of the original RS model. However, the RS2 Avant would be a longer-roof RS3 that would be smaller than the Porsche-built hot-wagon of the mid-1990s. Unfortunately, there are very few chances that this will ever happen as the Ingolstadt-based marque will only sell the latest inline-five model in its four-door sedan or five-door Sportback versions.
An RS3 Avant is the perfect all-in-one vehicle for many people. It offers a great mix of performance, utility, and luxury, while the price tag is lower than the RS4 Avant sticker. This is just wishful thinking for those who love fast wagons. However, we can be thankful that the newest compact car is still available in two body styles and the 2.5 TFSI engine.
The Four Rings will not be selling this car but we must remind you that the star with three points has a similar product. The Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Shooting Brake is a compact, high-powered wagon with all-wheel drive that can be shifted by an automatic transmission. It packs a little more power than the RS3, with 416 hp.
Customers are already spoilt for choice with the many performance models available in a variety of sizes and shapes, even without an RS3 Avant. The RS3’s five-cylinder engine is what makes it unique. Ford has now retired its 3.2-liter inline-5 diesel with the introduction of the new Ranger.
