Audi is hard at work on the next generation Q5 model and has released new details about it.
Already, we have seen spy photos of prototypes of this vehicle. These photos show that it will maintain its overall shape and be slightly larger than its predecessor. It will weigh in at 220 lbs (100 kilograms) despite its size. The 2016 Porsche Macan will have some parts of the Q5’s suspension elements, based on the MQB modular platform.
AutoBild reports that the model will get a hot RS edition, although nothing has been confirmed. Under the hood will be a turbocharged 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine with 400 horsepower (294kW).
The new HTML5 will no longer be available as an entry-level front wheel drive model. All variants will be AWD.
The A4’s same architecture means that we will see the familiar petrol and diesel engines. This includes the 2.0 TSI, which produces 252 hp (185 kW), and 273 lbft (370 Nm), and the 2.0 TDI, which produces 190 hp (135 kW). According to our German colleagues, the SUV will be offered in an Ultra TDI model with a frugal diesel engine and 48-volt electrical system.
The new Q5 will be on display at Paris Motor Show in September, so you can expect to see it sometime next year.
