American muscle takes the famed, German track.
Germany’s Sport Autooften includes an evaluation of a vehicle that includes a lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. It’s the latest Ford Mustang Mak 1 version that is being tested to see how fast it can go around the famous circuit.
The European Mach 1 is slightly less powerful than the one in America. The naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 produces 453 horsepower (338 Kilowatts) as well as 390 poundfeet (529 Newton meters) of torque. This is in contrast to 480 HP (358 kW), and 420lb-ft (569Nm) in America. This is due to the differences in emission regulations across markets.
This video shows the 6-speed manual transmission, instead of the 10-speed automatic. It rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
The Mustang Mach 1 starts at EUR60,800 in Germany. An M440i’s base price is EUR66,800.
Although the driver does not offer any commentary, it is evident that the Mach 1 handles the track well. The driver finishes in 7 minutes and 58.29 seconds.
You can compare the Mach 1’s time to other SportAuto test times at Nurburgring to get a better understanding of its performance. A BMW M4 Competiton finishes a circuit at 7:30.39 while a Golf GTI Clubsport 45 completes a lap at 8:02.66. A Supra requires 7/52.17.
Icons Director Dave Pericak claimed that the Mach 1 was Ford’s most track-capable 5.0-liter Mustang. This model serves as a transitional vehicle between the Shelby GT500 and Mustang GT.
According to reports, the Mach 1 and GT will experience a 10 hp (7.5kW) and 10 Lb-ft (114 Nm) decrease in power for the US model year 2022. This is allegedly to ensure that the 5.0-liter V8 meets stricter emission regulations.
