Smart fans are sad.
As it prepares for a joint venture with Geely, things are changing at a Smart. Smart will be reducing its product portfolio to make way for this partnership. Smart has stopped production of Smart EQ ForFour. While the Smart EQ ForTwo will continue to be in production, we expect great things from this brand in the very near future. For now, let us not forget the Smart EQ ForFour.
It’s surprising to hear of any brand stopping production of affordable electric vehicles in today’s climate. But the SmartEQ ForFour was a great addition to this world. Smart EQ ForFour, a city car with more space and practicality than the Smart EQ ForTwo, was the Smart EQ ForFour. The Smart EQ ForFour had a range of 78 miles, 80 horsepower (60 Kilowatts of power), and could be charged up in just 40 minutes if the right conditions were met. The battery is a tiny 17.6 kWh lithium-ion. This is particularly interesting when you consider that it has a smaller battery than the 99 kWh Tesla Model S Plaid.
Geely is a Chinese multinational automotive company. Geely, a Chinese multinational auto company, is headquartered in Hangzhou (Zhejiang). Their recent success was with the reinvention and growth of Volvo. Geely just acquired Lotus, and we have already seen great success due to Geely funding. Geely’s management style is what has made its acquisitions so successful. They let brands run their own businesses while providing substantial funding.
Geely still has much to do in Smart. Geely and Mercedes-Benz plan to reinvent the brand, creating compelling EVs that appeal to consumers who are looking for affordable cars. Smart is developing a small EV SUV to be the first product in its new range of products.
