So You Want A Regular Cab, Short Bed Chevy Silverado In America

You have to wait, but there is a chance.

Since the new Chevy Silverado was introduced, regular cabs with short beds bodies are no longer available. This is true even if you are buying from the US. However, those living in the Middle East may be able to purchase a regular cab with a short bed body in RST or Trail Boss trims. These trims ironically were made in the US.

You can purchase a regular Silverado cab, but it will have an extra long bed. If you prefer a shorter bed, you will need to select the crew cab configuration. A single cab model cannot be ordered with a shorter bed. This is even true for the 2021 model year.

It’s understandable. Pickup truck manufacturers have made the crew cab a profitable business model in the US. This is because these massive workhorses are now doubled as passenger haulers. The short and slim configuration makes it a niche option.

A single-cab, short-bed truck with a single cab bed is a niche option that makes it a strong candidate for an off-roader. The shorter the wheelbase, however, the better. The Trail Boss trim, which is sold in the Middle East, comes with a 2.0 inch lift, monotube shocks and skid plates. This makes it a great offroad machine.

It doesn’t mean, however, that the bowtie brand won’t offer a Silverado with a short bed and regular cab in the US. Bob Krapes (Director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing) told GM Authority it was something they were going to do and care deeply about.

The automaker has been limited by the coronavirus pandemic, which is no surprise. The niche product may arrive soon, but it is possible.
