We are not sure if this is necessary, but it is okay.
Spotify, the world’s most popular audio platform, has launched a new device for road users. The Car Thing is a convenient name for the device. It acts as a separate Spotify player, and can be mounted and left in your car. It’s a car technology dedicated to music playback. It’s already there, right?
Before you start yelling at the sky about the lack of this device (hey, your phone already has a Spotify app), let me tell you: Let it be known that the company will give the device away free of charge, without shipping. Does that sound good?
Car Thing requires a smartphone that has a data connection. To use it, first plug it in (for power) and then connect it via Bluetooth to your smartphone. The head unit will then need to be connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth or an additional connection. Simple? It’s not.
The Car Thing has one advantage: you can take it with you wherever you go. It can also be used to access your Spotify Premium account. This allows it to learn your listening habits and provides a more intuitive experience. You can also set four preset buttons and use the voice command function to control it.
But, again, is it really necessary to have a separate device for music?
You could also argue that the Car Thing is for older cars without Android Auto or Apple Carplay. A Car Thing can reduce the chance of you fiddling around with your phone to find the right playlist. This could help to prevent distracted driving from causing accidents.
