This summer, the workhorse will be on sale in Europe.
SsangYong unveiled a new pickup truck to serve the European market at Geneva Motor Show.
Musso in Korean means rhinoceros. You can see why this name was chosen. The truck is rugged and muscular and has impressive off-road capabilities. This is what you would expect from the only SUV manufacturer from Korea’s fastest growing market. The Musso’s exterior looks are modern and impressive but it is still old-school. The Musso, like the Rexton flagship model it is based on, is constructed using a simple frame and body construction technique.
However, this has not compromised structural integrity. The world’s first quad-frame Musso is made from 1.5Gpa-grade, high-strength steel. Ssangyong claims that the car is stiffer than other competitors and lighter.
The engine is also a carryover from the Rexton. It is the same eXDi220 that produces 178 horsepower (133 kilowatts), and 295 poundfeet (405 Newton-meters). There are two transmission options: a six-speed manual and an Aisin six speed automatic. Both have been used by many other brands in the automotive industry.
The Musso’s interior is more spacious than other European market pickups. It has Nappa leather seats at the top model and Bluetooth connectivity. It can accommodate five people and has a load space that can hold a ton. This is the perfect size for European-spec pallets. It can also tow up to three-and-a-half tons.
The Musso will be on sale in Europe this summer. Prices will be announced closer to the date.
