It’s known as the Mode LT, and is the most affordable camper range by the brand.
Storyteller Overland is well-known for its Mercedes Sprinter motorhomes. Last year, it launched a refreshed lineup of Mode camper vans called the Beast, Stealth, and Classic, which basically laid down options for off-road-capable-motorhome buyers in the US.
The Alabama-based company had been exploring the possibility of using the Ford Transit platform. However, the two-wheel drivetrain has some limitations that Storyteller Overland did not want to use.
The Storyteller Overland is able to continue its goal of building a Ford Transit-based camper van. It’s called the Mode LT because of the 2019 addition of AWD on Transit.
The Transit Mode LT camper is visually smaller than the Sprinter motorhomes by Storyteller Overland. The new model retains the Mercedes visual cues, but is complemented with utilitarian equipment like a rugged roof rack with sound deflector, side mount ladder, and Storyteller Transition wheels wrapped in 245/65/16 tires.
With the availability of solar panels that produce 90W, it is possible to overland. These panels can be expanded up to 600W. The exterior has four 110V outlets and a heavy-duty shore power outlet. The Ford Transit LT comes with a 21 gallon freshwater tank and a 24-gallon gray water tank.
Storyteller Overland is yet to release interior photos or reveal any layout. It will be almost identical to the Sprinter, and the company’s website lists some noteworthy features.
A Dreamweaver bed with convertible surface, swiveling back seats, a Groovelounge 2-seat convertible sofa bed and a gasoline-fired heating systems are included. There are six 100V outlets and six USB ports. There is also a large cargo area and an L-track.
Storyteller Overland Transit Mode LT, which is priced at $153,748, is also the most affordable Mode. The Sprinter-based Classic Mode, which is priced at $157 747, has the Stealth, Beast, and Stealth Modes priced higher.
Storyteller Overland will continue to update the Mod camper lineup for the model year 2022. These updates will be made public on September 24, 2021.
