The livestream begins at midnight Eastern Time or 4 AM GMT Monday, April 5.
The livestream is hosted on the Toyota Gazoo Racing YouTube channel, rather than on the regular Toyota account. This could be performance related. Subaru will host the premiere on the same online video platform: 1 PM Japan Time, which is midnight Eastern, or 4 AM GMT Monday, April 5.
But what could it possibly be? We are allowed to dream of an all-wheel-drive hot-hatchback that the Japanese automakers will jointly develop with a Subaru 2.4-liter boxer-4 engine. Although it is possible that there will be versions for both Subaru and Toyota, we’ll need to wait and see.
Although the rumor may be true, the official unveiling of the car is not expected until November 2022. The best case scenario is that we will see a concept of the performance hatchback, or at least a prototype. This could signal Subie’s return in WRC. Take this information with a grain of salt, as it comes from unconfirmed Japanese reports.
This tagline isn’t new. It was first used almost a year ago by Toyota and Subaru in a video describing their cooperation in September 2019. While we know that the two are working on an electric SUV, the video above suggested something more, possibly a sports car.
It’s well-known that Toyota will unveil an all-electric SUV during the Shanghai Motor Show, in the second half of April. Although Subaru will be launching its own version of the Evoltis, we doubt that the livestream will reveal any other SUVs.
We believe we have covered everything, unless Toyota or Subaru plan to surprise us. Although it is a wishful thinking, we don’t mind if the livestream will focus on the Super Sport hypercar. We might be looking too deeply into this, and the reveal could actually be the new model 86.
