Subaru sets the fastest lap record for a Sedan at Nurburgring

The team was not hindered by the rain.

Subaru has not let rain stop it from lapping the Nurburgring in less than seven minutes. After the monsoon had halted the first attempt the automaker returned to the Green Hell during sunny weather and lapped the Nurburgring in just 6 minutes and 57.5 seconds. This lap record is for a four-door sedan, and it’s on par with the 6:57 Porsche 918 Spyder. Subie promised to release a video soon of the run, and we cannot wait to see it.The NBR Special is not a production vehicle. Prodrive built the machine using a 2017 WRX STI as its base. However, it features a rally-spec 2.0 liter turbocharged flat-four-cylinder that produces 600 horsepower (474 kilowatts). A World-Rally-Championship-spec gearbox channels the power to both axles. Subaru used this vehicle to lap the Isle of Man course, and for sprinting up Goodwood Hill Climb. However, the latest evolution has a new body kit that improves handling and includes an active rear wings.
