On January 13, 2022, Subaru stopped accepting orders from the United States for its 2022 BRZ. This information was provided by a member from the FT86 Club forum. He also included a screenshot from Subarunet – an automaker’s backend dealer tool.

Motor1.com was told by a Subaru spokesperson that “The Sold Order opportunities have closed, but customers can still visit a retailer to buy a BRZ.” We were asked why and we were told that the Sold Order allotment had been met.

We reached out to Toyota as well to see if the company was stopping orders for GR86. Both it and the BRZ are made in the same factory.

In fall 2021, the 2022 BRZ was delivered to dealers. Prices start from $28,955 with the $960 destination charge for Premium grade with a six speed manual. The Limited, which has a six-speed manual transmission, is the most expensive model in the range. It costs $33,255.

The BRZ comes with Torsen’s limited-slip rear differential, LED high- and low beam headlights, dual-zone automatic temperature control, heated side mirrors, and dual-zone auto climate control. The instrument panel has a 7.0-inch digital screen and an 8.0 inch infotainment display.

The Limited trim comes with 18-inch wheels in matte gray and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Premium, on the other hand, rides on 17-inch wheels. Blind-spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, and steering responsive headslights are all standard features in the Premium grade. The front seats are covered in Ultrasuede with red leather accents and have dual-mode seat heating.

The 2022 BRZ is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder boxer engine. It produces 228 horsepower (170 kilowatts), and 184 pound feet (249 newton meters) of torque . It gets 21 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 25 combined. The automatic transmission delivers 20 mpg in the city, 27 highway and 22 combined.
