The mirror stalk is very revealing.
Subaru unveiled its first Wilderness design earlier in the year, with the Outback. Now the company is teasing what’s next. Two teasers have been released by the Japanese automaker of the second Wilderness model, which all indications point to being the Forester. Although the teasers aren’t very informative, it’s easy to see which Subaru vehicle will be receiving an off-road upgrade.
One teaser photo shows the Subaru Wilderness badge on the Subaru Wilderness front fender. It also includes a portion the side mirror. The mirror stalk is located on the sharp body crease just above the badge. This styling feature is only available in Subaru’s Forester. This image also shows a little of the wheel well cladding that is unique to this Wilderness model.
Although it shows more of the vehicle than the first Wilderness teaser, it doesn’t reveal much. The chunky cladding that wraps around the wheel well can be seen more, as it meets the rocker cladding at the bottom and the dirty wheel. The door badge as well as the stalk and side mirror of the car are also visible in the image.
We don’t know what Subaru will do to the vehicle’s mechanical components. We can expect some welcome upgrades to the Outback Wilderness if it is like that. The Outback received an upgraded suspension, which improved its ground clearance, approach, departure and breakover angles, unique wheels and a front skid plate. These upgrades should also be available for the Forester Wilderness.
Subaru also gave Outback Wilderness new front and rear bumpers. This improved the Outback Wilderness’ off-road agility. We expect that the Forester Wilderness or any other Subaru model will receive the same styling updates. As it did not upgrade the Outback’s powertrain, Subaru is unlikely to give the Wilderness model any powertrain upgrades.
