It is more expensive than a regular Jimny.
The Suzuki Jimny off-roader is like a mountain goat. It is small enough to go places that larger and more expensive rigs cannot. Avus Auto and Delta4x4 have teamed up to create a kit that will install portal axles onto the SUV.
Portal axles are mounted higher than the wheels and transfer engine power to the wheels using a gearset. Ground clearance for the Jimny now measures 15.75 inches (40 cm) with new parts and larger wheels. The SUV stands at 70.9 inches (1.8 m) without the roof rack.
Avus Auto has 12 examples of the Jimny equipped with portal axles. The rest of the vehicle will be upgraded by Delta4x4. The company installs black 18-inch wheels with an 8-hole design and all terrain tires to give the vehicle the right off-road look. Fender flares are also available. Buyers have the option to add a stainless steel brush guard in tubular form and a three-ton winch.
The suspension has a 1.575 inch (4-centimeters) lift, adjustable shocks with remote reservoirs, and a 1.575-inch (4 centimeters) lift. You can add locking differentials to both the rear and front axles for even greater off-road capability.
These photos show the portal-axle Jimny as it appears in two different forms. Gray SUVs have a fully loaded roof rack, which covers the headlights and the winch. The yellow vehicle comes with a brush guard, which has lights, and a roof rack that is unloaded.
This off-roading equipment is expensive. The starting price for these Jimnys with portal wheels is EUR56,000 ($64 955). A regular Jimny costs EUR21,915 (25,422) in Germany. It costs EUR65,000 ($75 3999) if you get all the options such as the lock differentials and winch.
