It is based on the 911 Turbo but looks more like a GT2 Convertible.
Techart took the tuning world by storm in June with the announcement of a complete upgrade package for the Porsche 911 Turbo or Turbo S. The convertible will follow the coupe. This convertible is the German aftermarket specialist’s first. It combines the numerous carbon fiber upgrades with an electrically retractable soft roof.
Techart GTstreet R promises to provide real aerodynamic benefits, not just an aggressive design. To reduce weight, the hood and wings are made of carbon fiber. Although the extra fat from the wheel arch extensions may seem like it is adding to the vehicle’s weight, the tuner swapped the original fenders for a lighter set.
Although it is based on the Turbo engine, the overall design gives the impression that the car could be a 911 GT2 Convertible. Porsche is unlikely to launch this model. Similar to the coupe, the GTstreet R can be tuned to produce 800 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. The 911’s new muscle will propel it to 218 mph (355 km/h).
A new, two-pipe, hand-welded exhaust system from stainless steel is added to the list. It also features a valve control system that allows for engine sounds to be altered on the fly. Techart will bring the 911 Turbo / Turbo S down by 25 mm (nearly an inch) thanks to a stiffer spring set and optional fully adjustable suspension.
The list includes 20- and 21 inch centerlock wheels with or not carbon fiber aero discs, one or two-tone paint finishes and interior enhancements such as Alcantara and leather, heritage fabrics and carbon fiber.
These upgrades are not cheap. The kit is priced at EUR73,000 which is slightly more than the new Porsche 718 BoxsterS in Germany. The cabrio is limited in number to 87 copies, just like the coupe.
