Television Tommy’s Quad Engine Buick Wagonmaster Could be Yours

Do you love V8 engines? What about four V8 engines on a car?

This week’s episode is the final one. If you are looking to purchase art cars at a reasonable price, noteworthy vehicles from Burning Man events may be for you. United Nude’s Lo-Res concept car is still available for purchase, but you’ll have to wait until the hammer drops on this polygonal EV.

We might have the right thing for you if you are looking for something more raunchy and powered by powerful V8s. The 1981 Quad-Engine Buick Wagonmaster is now available by Tommy Ivo. It has four V8 engines, not just one. Uninitiated viewers may not know that Tommy Ivo, or TV Tommy, is a leader in the hotrod community. He raced the first gasoline-powered dragster breaking the nine second barrier in the 1950s – a side by side Buick nailhead engined dragster which ran 8.69 seconds.

Later, the actor and drag racer created a four-engine Showboat slingshot dragster. The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), however, ruled that it could not race. The Showboat was transformed into the Wagonmaster in 1981. This is what you can see here.

If you are curious, each of the four V8 engines powers a wheel. This makes this dragster a formidable four-wheel-drive machine at a drag track. According to the lot description the Wagonmaster competed at the 1982 World Finals at Orange County Raceway. Hot Rod Deluxe magazine’s September 2012 issue featured it as the centerfold car. You have several months to make your decision if you are interested in purchasing this unique insanity. It is Lot R516 at Mecum Auction’s Kissimmee 20,22. This auction takes place January 6-15, 2022.
