Tesla could be a top-ten best-selling brand in 2022 with Model 3.

Tesla is expected to surpass Audi in global sales with more than 1.6 million units sold by the end.

Robyn Denholm, Tesla Board Chair, stated that by 2030, Tesla aims to sell 20,000,000 electric vehicles annually. Many media outlets didn’t take the statement seriously, especially considering that Tesla shipped more than 930,000 vehicles worldwide in 2021. This means that Tesla will have to double its sales in nine years.

Although there might not be consensus among analysts on this goal, much can happen within nine years. Many of these analysts agree that Elon Musk’s statement about the Model Y becoming a global bestseller in 2023 would be possible.

The strong growth that Tesla has been experiencing in the world’s first quarter 2022 is confirmed by the latest sales data. The company has released preliminary results that show it set a new quarterly record with 310,000 units. This is an increase of 68 percent over Q1 2021, and 250 percent over Q1 2020.

Only 0.5 percent of the volume was increased compared to Q4 2021 when Tesla sold almost 309,000 units. The first quarter of each year since 2018, the year that the Model 3 was introduced to the market, has been a weak quarter for Tesla. Sales have taken a dive. Based on data from previous years the EV automaker is predicted to produce between 1.6 million and 1.8million vehicles by 2022. This would put Tesla on par with Audi which produced 1.68 million cars in 2021.

The Model Y, the Protagonist in Q1 2022

There are many reasons for optimism about Tesla. The Model Y is the brand’s latest offering and it is showing strong results. The midsize crossover did very well in model sales rankings in many countries in the first quarter.

It was, for example, the best-selling vehicle in Norway, second in Austria and fifth in Denmark and Sweden. The Model Y also did well in larger markets. It was, for example, the sixth-most popular car in the UK and the 14th in the United States. It was the most popular model in Austria, Denmark and the UK.

The Model Y was the 13th-ranked car in China’s largest market. It was also the most competitive electric vehicle. The Model Y was among China’s top ten cars in February, if we only look at February.

The Model Y was first produced at Tesla’s Fremont plant, California in January 2020. Deliveries began on March 13, 2020. It has already been one of the most popular cars on many of the largest car markets in the world within 24 months. During the first quarter 2022, the Model 3 was a top-selling car in Canada, Switzerland and Germany, France, Norway, New Zealand, Canada, and Germany.

This, along with rising fuel prices and government incentives for EVs and an increasing interest from buyers to switch to electric vehicles, makes Tesla the ideal company to achieve its goals. This is at most the short-term goals.
