Toyota quietly announced plans for a Prius Persona series in the United States.
The model was designed to appeal to buyers who are style-focused. It features exclusive Black Cherry Pearl paint (Black or Blizzard Pearl options also available), special badgeging, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Designers added SofTex black seats and contrast stitching to the cabin to make it more attractive. The steering wheel, doors, and gear shift ring are also finished in dark chrome.
The hybridized 1.8-liter four cylinder engine of the Persona Series produces 134 horsepower (100 kW) and is similar to the standard model. The model can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 9.8 seconds, and reach a maximum speed of 112 MPH (180 km/h).
The 2013 Prius Persona series is priced at $27,130, which is $1,365 more than the Prius Three on which it is based.
