The 10 finalists have been announced for the 2018 World Car of the Year Award. The finalists include manufacturers from Italy and Korea. Only the U.S. is a holdout. The Geneva Motor Show will hold voting, with the top three finalists being announced at Geneva. The New York Auto Show will announce the final winner in April
Six of the 10 finalists in 2017’s award had products from Volkswagen Group and Audi, but only two finalists have corporate ties to this year’s award. Each finalists are represented by Alfa Romeo. More than half of the 10 finalist vehicles are SUVs. Three sedans and one hatchback made it to the final round.
Judges will also award World Car of the Year honors for performance, luxury, urban living and eco friendliness. The same finalists for the world car of year have been nominated in other categories so that certain vehicles can win more than one award.
Five more luxury cars were added to the list of finalists for the 2018 World Luxury Car of the Year. The five finalists are all German, with two Porsches and Audi among them. The new Lexus LS is the only non-European car. These are the five finalists.
Five finalists were selected from all over the globe for the performance category. The final selection was made from vehicles representing Alfa Romeo and Lexus, BMW, Honda and BMW. The 2018 World Green Car of the Year, the final of the five categories will recognize the most environmentally-friendly vehicles currently on the market. The second award goes to the Nissan Leaf, which is also the only pure-electric vehicle on the list, like the Alfa Romeo Giulia. These are the finalists:
