You can choose between a 5-door hatchback or a 4-door sedan. They look very different.
Mazda unveils the new generation Mazda3 at 2018, Los Angeles Auto Show. The sleek exterior conceals the new features that the Japanese automaker has added to the vehicle, such as the Skyactiv-X engine with Spark Controlled Compression Ignition.
Mazda has not yet provided any details, but it is confirming the SkyactivX engine’s availability in its new model. Buyers can choose from three different versions of the Skyactiv-X 1.5, 2.0, or 2.5-liter Skyactiv G powerplants. The engine also features modifications to the intake ports, pistons and other components that are said to improve performance and fuel economy. The diesel-powered Skyactiv-D1.8 with improved fuel injection is available in certain regions. There are two transmission options: a six-speed manual or an automatic. An option for all-wheel drive is also available.
Mazda3 will offer all-wheel drive, but details about the system are not yet available.
There are two options for the new Mazda3: a five-door hatchback or a four-door sedan. The hatch has a more elegant silhouette as the roof slopes down gently and the curvature blends into the tail. The sedan, on the other hand, has sharper lines and tauter wrinkles at the rear.
All variants have a long, slanted nose. The model’s nose is dominated by a large grille. There are also futuristic-looking headlights with squinting lenses. It would seem that the cabin has good visibility outwardly from the A-pillars.
The designers wanted to create a minimalist interior that would appeal to occupants. They succeeded. The dashboard’s curving section houses the instruments. The dash’s center is home to an 8.8-inch infotainment screen. It is surrounded by a simple pair of dials, and a few buttons. To provide vital information directly in front of the driver’s eyes, a head-up display can still be used.
New driver assistance tech will make driving the Mazda3 easier. The brand’s Cruising & Traffic Support system (CTS), for example, adds traffic jam assistance with the ability of controlling the accelerator, brake, steering, and throttle. Blind intersection collisions can be avoided by using front cross traffic alert.
