Race proven.
How do you build an off-road-ready pickup truck? Chevy chose to race the prototype 2022 Chevy Chevy Silverado in order to build the final production truck. Chevy claims that the ZR2 Silverado prototype race truck has participated in 10 off-road races sanctioned by professionals, including the Vegas to Reno Best In The Desert Race. This is precisely what makes motorsports so thrilling for consumers.
Motorsports began as a way of selling cars and proving your vehicle superior. The 24 Hours of Lemans was a race that was started specifically to prove vehicle reliability. While there are certain cases where motorsports can have an impact on production cars today, most race cars or trucks today are their own breed. There is no connection between racing and road vehicles, except for a few homologation vehicles that are specifically built to race.
This is exactly why the 2022 Silverado ZR2 is so thrilling. Chevy says that the new Silverado ZR2 is so exciting because it was developed with extreme challenges in mind.
Chevy explained that the “links between the production truck, and the race truck, are significant because they share most major chassis and drivetrain components including the sturdy, ladder-type frame and 420-horsepower V-8 engine. They also have a 10-speed automatic transmission, front differential, transfer case, front skid plate, and transfer case skid plates.
The Chevy Silverado ZR2 is not a race truck. This is a race truck that’s ready to be used on the roads.
