Videos and photos from the incident were apparently not enough.
A very publicized incident occurred almost a year ago in New York City. Video captured a rare Gemballa Mirage GT crashing into multiple vehicles before coming to a halt. The driver of the car, Benjamin Chen, was also captured on video. Apparently, Chen has been cleared of all charges in relation to the incident.
According to Road & Track Chen’s case was dismissed by the New York Criminal Court on March 15. The reason Chen was dismissed was apparently a lack in proof. Road & Track cites a court record that states “The People are moving for dismissal of this matter because it cannot be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.”
Multiple photos and videos captured the Porsche Carerra GT modified as it bounced through Manhattan on April 7, 2020. Due to COVID-19 lockdowns at the time, New York City was virtually a ghost town and streets that normally bustled with traffic were unnervingly empty. The supercar, which was blue, struck first a minivan and then began to walk down the street, shedding crumpled parts along the way.
After the Porsche was badly damaged, it struck other cars before police arrived to surround the vehicle. One video clip shows the driver sitting at the wheel while police stand by. Chen was reportedly charged for operating a vehicle while under the influence and recklessly driving.
The video at the beginning of this article shows that the Porsche, which was Gemballa-tweaked, was severely damaged. The event was not reported to have resulted in any injuries. However, it is well documented through photos and videos on social media.
