The Corvette C8’s three new official colors for 2022 are now available

What do you think about grey, brown, or orange?

It seems like yesterday that we were discussing Chevrolet’s new mid-engine Corvette finally coming to market. Already two model years in production, we are now getting a glimpse of year three. Exterior color options are the exception to this rule.

The 2021 Michelin NCM Bash began April 22 at National Corvette Museum. Sometimes new ‘Vette information surfaces at the celebration. Kai Spande, Bowling Green Assembly Plant Manager, announced the new colors in a small ceremony. These new colors include Amplify Orange Tintcoat and Hypersonic Gray Metallic. The building will be empty of the Sebring Orange Tintcoat and Shadow Gray Metallic to make way for the option book.

The overall palette will not look much different since the colors they replace are very similar. Caffeine, which Zeus Bronze Metallic has gained a reputation for being a favorite or hating, is undoubtedly the most interesting. The low take-rates of the copperish hue indicate that more people dislike it. It will be interesting to see how Caffeine, which looks rather brown in official photographs than Zeus Bronze Metallic, is received by buyers.

The big news for 2022 is the arrival of the Corvette Z06. We’ve seen many spy photos of prototypes with large rear tires and videos showing test cars sounding wonderfully burbly. It will be powered by the DOHC V8 that was used in the C8.R racecar. The latest rumor says it is a naturally-aspirated 4.2-liter engine with 617 horsepower and 460 kilowatts. We’ve heard many different rumors so this is not an official statement.

The Z06 will be revealed in the latter part of this year. It remains to be seen if it comes in exclusive colors.
