The Dodge Viper body kit for the C3 Chevy Corvette is a bizarre mixup

It did not bring a winning bid to Bring A Trailer so it may still be available.

This 1976 Chevrolet Corvette is not a first-generation Dodge Viper. It still sports prominent Corvette branding, although the Chevrolet Bow Tie badges are on the doors with the word Saber. The Saber badges are on the fenders which indicate that this is a 1976 Corvette Saber. It is possible to buy it, as long as you have the need.

This C3 Corvette/Dodge Viper hybrid was recently listed on Bring a Trailer. It didn’t reach the seller’s reserve. This will be discussed later. But first, let’s talk about what makes this Corvette bid worthy. This auction claims that this Corvette is one of two manufactured by RPM Design Limited. It was constructed in the 1990s. The fiberglass body kit has extensive modifications to resemble the OG Viper down to the side exit exhaust. We’ll be honest and say that side-exit exhaust was a popular aftermarket modification to the C3 ‘Vette back then.

The power-operated hood opens to reveal the 5.7-liter V8. It was installed at the time the body kit was purchased. It drives the rear wheels via a three speed automatic transmission and rides on modified suspension. Although there is no mention of power, a plaque located behind the shifter at the center console states that it produces 350 horsepower and 380 pound feet of torque.

The interior is completed with a two-tone black/yellow leather redux. The interior is reminiscent of a mid-1970s Corvette except for the door panes which have a color combination that matches the seats. The Saber badges can also be found on the doors. They open from the inside, but are operated electrically on the outside.

The price of the Corvette Saber was $15,000 after a bidding war, but that wasn’t enough for the reserve. Although the reserve is not mentioned in the auction listing, or in the comments, one commenter stated that the Vipervette sold previously for more than $30,000. This time, buyers didn’t want to go that high. However, one commenter claimed that the Vipervette sold for more than $30,000.
