The Mid-Engined Corvette C5 Kart is All Kinds of Awesome

Party in the back, business in the front.

Motor1 has covered many go-kart designs. We were able to spot this Corvette powered example on TikTok. Nick Yarbrough built this little rascal.

Contrary to its name, Yarbrough designed the kart for drifting. This kart is a certified tire slayer, thanks to its LS6 back. The motor was modified only by changing the heads to LS3. According to him, the vehicle currently runs on a set Kenda Kaiser KR20A wheels – which aren’t the most grippier in the world.

Yarbrough claims that while the LS6 is capable of producing 385 horsepower (287 kilowatts), the motor’s previous owner did not take good care of it. Yarbrough claims that the motor is leaking from all seals and that the transmission fluid is still very dark, even after adding large amounts.

This beast is very similar to a Formula 1 car from the 1970s without the body panels. Although it is a kart, the forward-biased driver position seems to be heavily inspired from the cars of the era. Although the C5F1 has roll bars to allow for a racing harness and is not yet fitted with a roll cage, the greatest concern is hot fluids being sprayed onto the driver.

This lightweight package is easy to transport and light in weight, making it the perfect track weapon. TikTok has videos of the C5F1 ripping tires and drifting around cones. We’d love to hear your opinions on this amazing masterpiece in the comments section.
