The Mitsubishi Lancer Revealed As A Sleek Sedan in Unofficial Renderings

Perhaps one day.

Mitsubishi is feeling a little lost as an automaker. As consumer preferences change, the brand’s lineup has been reduced and several models have been discontinued. One of these victims was the legendary Lancer. It’s possible that it will return to the US. We can’t deny feeling excited about this possibility. Although it’s been rumored for many years, there have never been any official renderings. We are hopeful again after Enoch Gonzales’s new collection.

The sedan’s latest design aesthetic is very aggressive thanks to the new batch of renderings. The front of the Lancer features a large rectangular grille, which blends into the tiny, thin-slit headlights. It looks like the hood covers them. They are located above large fake intakes housing the fog lights. It has a stylized lower bumper lip that adds sportiness.

The new Mitsubishi models feature sharp body creases towards the rear. Lancer renderings also include these, giving the sedan a prominent hunch over its rear fenders as well as a deep indentation along the bottom of their doors. Rear-end looks are quite clean in comparison to the front. An otherwise subdued and sporty design is contrasted by a simple, full-width LED twilight. Its sporty appearance is further enhanced by black accents on the dual exhaust tailpipes.

Mitsubishi’s place and role in the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance will likely dictate what models the brand will produce going forward. The trio revealed a new business strategy last year that would see Mitsubishi serving the Southeast Asia and Oceania regions. There are rumors about the Lancer, and even rumors about a Lancer Evolution revival. However, that will not happen without the regular sedan. The Subaru WRX STI would be able to compete with it again.
