It reaches the speed limiter.
The AutoTopNL YouTube channel obtained a new BMW M4 Competition coupe and drove it on an unrestricted section to see what it could do. This is the striking shade Sao Paulo Yellow, which looks almost like highlighter.
The M4 Competition Twin-turbo 3.0-liter twin turbo inline-six engines produce 503 horsepower (375kilowatts) as well as 479 pound feet (650 Newton-meters), of torque. BMW claims that the BMW M Driver’s package can make the sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds. It also has a electronically limited top speed limit of 180 mph (290 km) The maximum speed is 155 mph (250 km/h).
Only the Competition is available with an 8-speed automatic. The model was launched with only rear-wheel drive. Later, all-wheel drive is available with a rear-biased system that’s similar to the M5’s.
The driver of the M4 Competition speeds up to speeds that could land him in jail in the United States. The car accelerates to 170 mph (274 km/h) in an initial blast before slowing down but maintaining a speed of well over 100 mph (161 km/h).
After a short cut, the M4 quickly accelerates to 100 mph and continues at that speed for the remainder of the clip. The speedometer registers 183 mph (295 km/h) by the end. This is technically higher than the 180 mph speed limiter. The GPS beside the instruments shows 290 km/h (180 mph).
The M4 Competition starts at $74,700 plus a $995 delivery fee and all-wheel drive. Standard version: $71,800. The M3 is available with four doors for $69,900. $72,800 for Competition and $76,900 respectively for Competition xDrive.
