There is nothing more hardcore than Military Grade Unimog, Zetros

Both vehicles should be ready for the zombie apocalypse.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks will display a variety of rugged vehicles at the Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition, which opens tomorrow. The event will be held at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Waterkloof. Centurion visitors will have the chance to see a variety of military-grade vehicles including the Unimog U5000, Zetros and Actros 3344A/45.

There are many versions of Unimog, an all-purpose 4×4 vehicle that has been in existence since the second half 1940s. You can get it in civilian or military versions for a wide range of applications.

The owner of an U 318 model decided earlier this year to transform his Unimog into the Finnish food truck. The mobile kitchen was capable of holding up to 800 pounds (400 kg) of food and had all the necessary features, including work surfaces, gas stove, wash basin and plenty of cooking utensils. It’s used for many corporate and public events.

The Zetros is based on the Actros, Axor, and Axor series. It can be found in multiple configurations including a six wheeled model with a 16-ton payload. The three-axle beast is powered by a 7.2-liter turbodiesel inline-six that produces 960 pound-feet (1.300 Newton-meters).

These civilian versions are impressive, but they pale in comparison with the Mercedes military-grade versions. They can withstand almost any terrain and are virtually indestructible. The vehicles are also stunning thanks to the army green finish and large off-road tires.
