This period-correct restomod will take you back in time.
The 730-horsepower Colorado was a crazy custom built a few years ago. The same guys that made that offer a very clever solution for those who don’t want to do period-correct restoration.
The Roadster Shop in Illinois, which is owned by the Drive, offers complete restorations of vintage vehicles. This will certainly appeal to every American. This Chevy Square Body truck is from the 1970s. It looks almost like a time capsule. However, it has many modern modifications that make it nearly new.
Roadster Shop has updated almost all of the components beneath these “new” Chevy-C/K trucks. The restomod company hopes to provide a nostalgic experience for its customers by updating everything from the engine (a GM 650hp supercharged LT4 v8) to the transmission (GM 8-speed automatic) and the 4WD transfer box (sourced from Chevy silverado HD trucks).
You can name all the expensive modifications to this vehicle but there is one thing that remains: Roadster Shop can manufacture most of the cabin to factory specifications and period-correct standards, just like the Chevy silverado.
The Drive contacted the company to get an estimate of $150,000 to $200,000 depending on the condition and make of the donor car. Roadster Shop is able to help customers find donors or they can provide it. It’s not cheap, however.
Fortunately, the majority of restomods that look as good as this one are in this price range. If you are interested in this product, be prepared to spend a lot of money and not get your hands dirty.
