Spotted in winter wonderland sans the camo.
The 2022 Hyundai Infinitiq 5 was launched just 24 hours ago. The Korean marque revealed details about its latest electric SUV. It is the road-going version 45 Concept, the first to use the EGMP platform, and was launched less than 24 hours ago.
The Ioniq 5 is a great design, but these comments would only be made if you saw the images from the new Hyundai crossover. However, our spy photographers have captured one example in the wild, one that isn’t camouflaged and basking in a winter wonderland.
We were pleasantly surprised to see the Ioniq 5 in real metal sheets. This is not the launch images. Although the silver accents and black exterior paint seemed appropriate, the square-shaped headlamps were what stood out. The press images of the electric SUV have a strong retro-futuristic appeal. But this metal example isn’t as striking – or maybe because it has a more mundane paint color.
Despite the reference to the 1975 Pony’s first production Hyundai vehicle, the Ioniq 5 is a mid-sized crossover measuring 4,635 millimeters (182.5 in) in length and a huge 3,000 mm (18.1 in) wheelbase. The size of the vehicle is obvious in the photos, but it would have been nice to compare it with another vehicle.
The interior is not included in the spy images, so they can only be viewed through the gallery at the end of this story. You can expect a high-tech cabin that is led by two 12-inch screens on the dashboard.
In our launch article you can read more about the Ioniq 5’s battery and powertrain details, including the amazing 10 to 80 percent charging time in just 18 minutes. This was revealed at launch.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5, the first of many electric Korean cars to use the E-GMP platform, is now available under the new Ioniq subbrand. In 2022, the Ioniq 6 will be available. This would be the production version of the Prophecy idea. The larger Ioniq 7 SUV is due to arrive in 2024.
