We are inspired by Tacoma.
Since the Hilux’s mid-cycle refresh in 2020 was announced, we have been aware of it. First brought to our attention by Instagram user Kurdistan_automotive_blog_, the adjacent renderings were also sent to us via e-mail by the website that actually claims to have leaked images of the updated truck, Milele Motors.
We can’t verify the authenticity of these images as they aren’t coming directly from Toyota. Car Advice suggests that these renderings could be based on internal photos taken by the 2021 Hilux. While the renderings might not be as dramatic as the ones in the Australian publication, the Australian publication states that the upcoming update to the Hilux will include a “heavy facelift” instead of the usual nip-and-tuck.
The styling changes made for the Ford Ranger competitor will be akin to the Tacoma’s, as we can see in the new headlights. Two headlight designs were leaked from the 2021 Hilux. One is for the lower trims and has a mixture of LED and halogen, while the other is for the higher-end models that have a full-LED configuration. Although the revised taillights have been updated to be LED, it seems that the turn signals remain with their halogen counterparts.
One image shows the new color palette, which includes three new colors – Emotional red, Dark blue, and Oxide bronze – as well as two alloy wheels in sizes 17- and 18. Depending on the trim level, some exterior trim pieces are painted in metallic black or basic black. There may also be changes inside the cabin.
The 2021 Toyota Hilux will experience a slight power boost when equipped with the turbodiesel-2.8-liter engine. It currently produces 174 horsepower (135 kilowatts), 450 Newton-meters (332 pounds-feet) of torque when connected to the automatic transmission, and 174 HP (130kW) and 332 Nm (332 lb-ft) respectively when hooked up to the manual.
According to a recent report, there will be a GR Hilux that is more powerful than the current model. It will feature a turbodiesel V6 engine with a lot of torque and can be connected to s 4×4 system. The performance truck will get chassis and suspension upgrades. There may also be some design tweaks that will make it stand out from other models.
We’ve heard that Toyota may merge Hilux and Tacoma to sell the pickup truck worldwide. Although the revamped Hilux will not be available before 2023, there are many possibilities for changes.
