This fire pit is one of the most unique things you will ever see.
Are you ready for the coolest thing? It’s actually one of the most popular things ever, but you get the idea. Old parts are repurposed to make beautiful furniture by car enthusiasts. A V8 engine block table is an excellent example of this.
It gets better because it isn’t a block you hollow out and fill with wood. The propane tank is the fuel source and can be ignited by turning a key. Your foot controls the flow of propane into your engine by pressing the gas pedal. You’ll see flames shoot up to 2 feet high when you floor it. Is there a firepit more amazing than this?
This table is not something you will find at Ikea, but it is possible to get one if your passion is there. John Cobb is the creator of this custom table. He is a full-time auto artist and the driving force behind Alaris Invent. Cobb has built many auto-themed furniture over his career, but in 2020 he decided to pursue his passion full-time. The automotive world should be grateful for this. Cobb’s creations show a keen eye for detail and a desire to discover new ideas.
The request for the flaming engine tables came from a Calgary woman who had seen Cobb’s work and wanted to surprise her husband by making something special. Cobb created the crazy idea of an engine table that doubles as a firepit. It took three months of trial-and-error to get the details right. This particular customer was delighted with the result, as you can see.
Cobb told Motor1.com that he is happy to continue building more. Because each project is unique, there is plenty of collaboration to help bring your individual visions to reality. His website lists camshaft lamps and crankshaft end-tables as well as engine coffee tables and wine racks. He also offers custom smartphone docks made from pistons.
Let’s just say that he is open to any wild ideas you might have.
