This Oldsmobile has 5,000 HP and is still street legal

It is now a daily-driven rocket that performs in a completely different way than when it was first created.

In a conversation about muscle cars, the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme of the ’70s and ’80s will always be included. Most especially if it went through the hands of Hurst Performance. The 1984 Hurst/Olds is one of the finest examples out there, and that’s exactly what we have here, featured by YouTube’s  Hoonigan  If the Olds you see above doesn’t seem familiar, it’s because it’s a heavily altered example known as the Sorceress. You might be wondering how it was modified. It can now produce more than 5,000 horsepower when it has the right fuel, which is a lot more than an old Hurst musclecar could. It is now America’s fastest streetcar.

The Sorceress can be fed with methanol to produce the required power. This car can apparently digest 88-octane gasoline, but the output will not be the same.

This Oldsmobile’s V8 is powered by a pair 110mm turbochargers, and two 2.5-inch primaries. The engine bay is stunning, with polished stainless steel hardware that looks nickel-plated. The electronic opening of the clamshell cover hood looks amazing.

You may not have noticed that a large portion of Sorceress’ exterior is made from carbon fibre. It’s lightweight. The car can sprint at 260 mph (418 km/h) for a quarter mile, and finishes it in six seconds. This is even faster than the Bugatti.

Although a lot has happened since 1984 Hurst’s original purchase, one thing is certain – it’s still the owner’s daily driver. It’s street legal, despite the insane horsepower it has. How cool is that?
