Neo, the Matrix has you covered.
Motor1.com loves drag racing videos, but this one is special. We don’t often see modified Volkswagen Beetles driving around in their modified versions, let alone one that is as customized as the one we see here. They also rarely race Porsche 911s, but this blue Beetle is a strong competitor. The outcome of this race is irrelevant, as there is no race. Wait, what?
Let’s take a look at the competition before we explain. A previous-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S is shown here, looking amazing in yellow. The flat-six engine produces 580 horsepower (433kilowatts), which is enough to power all four wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. This combination is a recipe to exceptional acceleration. The 911 can reach 60 mph in just three seconds on any prepared or unprepared paved surface.
It’s clearly far more expensive than its rival. It’s impossible to describe it other than this Volkswagen Beetle looks amazing from every angle. It rides on wide tires and sits low, likely connected to an all-wheel drive system. This is not confirmed and we don’t know what engine the Beetle has under its rear cover. This information is not available, but it’s obvious that the engine bay contains some serious firepower.
Here is where things get a little strange. The cars look amazing as the camera pans around before the race. It shows a long runway and starting flags blowing in the breeze. It’s side-by-side, with the Porsche slightly ahead at half-track. The Beetle gains extra power in the back, passing slowly the 911 to win. Although it’s an amazing side-by-side race the video is quite odd. It seems a little too smooth, a little too clean. It’s not real.
This is actually a cleverly computer-generated race from Rob3rtDesign on YouTube. You can view the channel and pages on Instagram as well as YouTube. There are many renderings and CGI videos from this artist. It’s all very well done.
It’s a fictional race. We share it here because of the action. We share it like we would any other beautiful example of automotive art. It is amazing to see the talent and creativity that went into these cars. We are eager to see more of this channel in the future.
