Digitally imagined the confirmed BMW X7 has been ahead of an expected 2017 launch or 2018.

Digitally imagined the BMW X7 already confirmed launch date has been set for 2017 or 2018.

We heard BMW announce a $1 billion investment in the Spartanburg, South Carolina factory. They want to increase their annual production rate to 450,000 cars before the end 2016. This facility will produce the X7, which is already confirmed. It is expected to be released in 2017 or 2018.

The X7 is not yet known, but there are rumors that the seven-seat crossover will be a global vehicle and will use the same platform (35up) as the next generation 5 and 7-Series. This lightweight combination of aluminum, high-strength and magnesium steels, carbon-reinforced polymers, and aluminum will allow for a diet of around 200 kg (440 lbs) in comparison to the previous model.

According to reports, the US-spec X7 will be available with V8 and turbo inline-six gasoline engines as well as straight-six diesels or a plug-in hybrid. All models will come with an eight-speed auto transmission and an all-wheel drive system, regardless of the engine option.

It’s not surprising that BMW has a 2016 concept to show off the production X7.
