Three new Aston Martin DBX Versions, including a Plug-In Hybrid

Hopefully, a V12 DBX will also be in the works.

The is now available in the United States. This DBX vehicle, which Aston Martin has made in its first ever production SUV, is now on sale. The vehicle is capable of delivering a lot of performance, but it does not have a V8 engine. The automaker will soon introduce three new DBX models.

Autocar sat down with Tobias Moers (CEO of Aston Martin), to confirm that a plug-in hybrid DBX was in development. Although it won’t be available until 2024 it could be the most powerful SUV model on the planet when it debuts.

According to a British publication, the DBX PHEV could be powered by a new version of Mercedes-AMG’s electrified powertrain. This will be available on both the 63e- and 73e-badged models. The system combines a twin turbo 4.0-liter V8 – which is the same as the DBX – with a powerful electric engine for a total output around 700 horsepower (522 kilowatts). Autocar claims that an upgraded electric motor could give the plug in DBX a peak power output of around 800 hp (597 kW).

Other versions of the V6 will likely be a hybridized and a pure 12 with no electric support. According to a report, November 2019, the latter could be given the AMR suffix in order to indicate its status as a range-topping option within the DBX lineup. It will be the third 12-cylinder SUV after the Rolls-Royce Cullinan or the Bentley Bentayga W12.

Moers confirmed that the Valhalla supercar will be launched in the second half 2023. It will also switch to a different powertrain configuration than the original concept. The study will be updated within the next four month to provide information for potential buyers. Moers stated that Aston Martin has received orders for Valhalla, but did not say how many customers.
