Tiger Woods Hospitalized After Genesis GV80 Rollover In California [UPDATE]

The crash caused the golfing legend to be extricated.

American golfer Tiger Woods was hurt in a single-vehicle accident. Multiple reports claim that Woods was the only person in an SUV at the time of the accident. It rolled over near Rancho Palos Verdes in Southern California.

According to the LA County Sheriff’s Office the accident happened at 7:12 AM PST. Although the cause of the accident has not been determined, Woods was the only person inside the vehicle. After removing Woods from the vehicle, LA County firefighters pulled it off. Woods was then taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. The LA Times reported the vehicle as a Genesis HTML80. This was confirmed by Motor1.com through an official statement from a Genesis representative.

“Genesis was shocked to hear that Tiger Woods was in an accident in a GV80 this morning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tiger and his family.”

ESPN cites Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg to confirm that the golfer was in a single car accident and sustained multiple leg injuries that required surgery. Woods’ official Twitter account posted a late February 23 update describing the extent of his injuries to his right leg. It’s not clear if the injuries will cause Woods to stop playing professional golf.

Genesis partnered recently with the PGA Tour to host the 2021 Genesis Invitational at Rivieria Golf Course in Los Angeles. Woods was the host of the event. It is believed that this particular GV80 was a courtesy car. The passenger door has a clearly visible Genesis logo, and Genesis Invitational is below it. The GV80 was the first SUV by Genesis, having been introduced just over a decade ago.

We will keep this story under surveillance and update you as soon as we have them. Woods, we send our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
