Paul would have the A90 GR Supra.
TOM’S is Toyota’s official tuning shop. They recently paid tribute to the late Paul Walker, one of Hollywood’s most ardent car lovers, with official support from Japan’s largest automaker. How did TOM’S do it? In collaboration with Japanese lifestyle magazine Safari, TOM’S redesigned three A90 GR Supras in white.
What is the connection between the white Supra, and Paul Walker? It appears that TOM’S is using the name of the late actor to display what they did for the Supra modern. But there’s more to the story than you might think.
Are you familiar with the white A80 Toyota Supra that was featured in Furious 7’s film? Walker was the car that Walker used in Furious 7. Now you see why TOM’S modified the Supra to make it more like Walker’s.
TOM’S gave the A90 Supra tribute a sophisticated and aggressive body kit. The front has a more restrained lip and the rear has a tall spoiler, a nod towards the A80 generation. A set of KW coilovers has made the ride height a little lower than stock. The TOM’S tribute features BBS LM wheels, just like Walker’s Supra. Safari has not provided any photos of the cabin but says that it features a full-leather interior with carbon fiber inserts on doors and dash.
The TOM’S tribute to the Supra is more than a Supra with subtle kit. TOM’S gave the Supra a little more power under the hood. The TOM’S Power Box increases power from 382 horsepower (285 Kilowatts), to 420 horsepower (313 Kilowatts). This simple tune allowed the Supra to gain 38 horsepower (28kilowatts).
TOM’S will build only three of these Paul Walker tribute-GR Supras. Each one costs 12.97 million Yen. That’s $116,757 at current exchange rate. This is more than twice the MSRP for standard Supra 3.0 at $54,690. It is still a lot lower than the Supra 3.0 from The Fast and Furious, which bought for $185,000 in 2015.
According to the magazine the lottery system will determine who the buyers are if there is a lot of applications. This could happen, given Walker’s influence in the car circles.
