Clarkson, Hammond and May as well as other presenters from the past return.
Presenters from the Top Gear series will gather to remember Sabine Schmitz. Sabine Schmitz, known as the Queen of Nurburg Ring, was an accomplished racer who was a member of Top Gear for more than 14 years. The entire Top Gear family will remember Sabine Schmitz to pay tribute to her.
Sabine Schmitz, 51, died from cancer in the end after battling for many years. The determined German racing driver did not let her illness stop her from smiling and enjoying her time at the Nurburgring. Sabine Schmitz was a champion driver in the Nurburgring 24 Hours. She also spent a lot of her time lapping the Ring.
Top Gear says we can expect the following presenters to present the tribute: “The specially-produced show will see Top Gear’s presenters Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris, along with former hosts Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, James May and Rory Reid and Matt LeBlanc as well as guests like Susie and Toto Wolff and Jess Hawkins.”
Sabine’s bright personality and skill are unmatched. Her appearance on Top Gear training Jeremy Clarkson for improving Ring lap times in a diesel Jaguar Jaguar is unforgettable. She demonstrated that driver skill is not a substitute for driving skills, as she was able to beat a van in no time. Visitors to Nurburgring had the chance to ride with Sabine in BMW’s Ring Taxi program, where she would drive tourists around Ring in BWM M cars.
The 30-minute special will air on BBC 1 in the UK at 7:30 PM on Wednesday April 7, and will also be available via the iPlayer. Motor1.com reached out to Motor Trend TV/On Demand to find out if the special will be broadcast across the pond.
