Toyota has packed a lot of style into such a small vehicle.
Although the A-segment may be dying in Europe, Toyota isn’t abandoning it just yet. Today’s X Prologue is a preview of the third-generation Aygo. It is essentially a concept car that gives us a glimpse into the future. The new Aygo, unlike the model that was co-developed with Peugeot, Citroen and Citroen is all-Toyota. There are no 108 or C1 sisters models in the works, as the French are leaving this segment.
The AygoX Prologue is a concept car with a few neat features. Toyota claims that the mirrors on each side have built-in action cameras, and they are “perfect for sharing and capturing moments of exploration.” To further emphasize the car’s adventurous nature, the skid plate features a bike-holder mount. The Aygo is a small car with a roof rack that increases storage space.
Its predecessor’s two-tone appearance has been retained, which means that customers will have more customization options for Toyota’s city car. We are reminded of the Volvo C30 rear end with its extended glass and vertical taillights. We hope this design will be preserved on the production model.
Toyota is keeping the interior cabin’s details secret at this time. The all-new Aygo was designed and developed in Europe, for Europe. It will still use a combustion engine. The new model, which is pint-sized, will be powered by a 3-cylinder gasoline unit. It is located below the Yaris supermini.
The TNGA-B platform that is used by its larger brother, the Yaris Cross will underpin it. This will allow Toyota to make the necessary scale gains and create a business case. The final model will likely be revealed by the end or early 2022, considering that prototypes of the vehicle have been seen.
