It is believed to arrive in September.
New spy photos support the rumor of the Toyota Corolla Cross coming to America. One of the photos shows him wearing a camouflaged pattern with speckles on the American roads.
The model is not very similar to the current Corolla, despite its name. The crossover’s grille is not placed low like the sedan. Instead, it has an opening higher at the front and a separate lower fascia. The shape of the headlights is also smoother.
The profile of the Corolla Cross is fairly traditional. The sides have subtle sculpting which adds visual flair. Its roofline is just slightly arched to keep it from looking completely flat.
The rear is more distinct. The taillights are shaped smoothly. The rear hatchback’s sculpting doesn’t make any difference, but it fits in with the rest of vehicle’s appearance.
The Corolla Cross would have the same powertrains that the Thailand version. This means that the 1.8-liter four cylinder would have 140 horsepower (104 Kilowatts) as well as 129 pound-feet (175 Newton meters) of torque. The CVT transmits power to the front wheels.
A hybrid version adds an electric motor that produces 72 hp (54.4 kW) or 120 lb (166 Nm). The 1.8-liter engine, however, has a lower output at 98 HP (73 kW), and 105 Lb-ft (142Nm). This setup’s total output is not available.
According a Toyota insider the Corolla Cross will begin production in America in September 2021 at its Alabama factory. It will go on sale in the 2022 model year.
It’s not known where the Corolla Cross will fit in Toyota’s American crossover lineup. It rides on the TGNA C platform, which is also under the CH-R.
