The publicity tour starts.
The 2022 Toyota GR 86 may be a bit old news. The car first made an appearance in April. Now that all formalities have been completed, Toyota will be taking the new 86 on an publicity tour. One of its first stops is the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Toyota intends to do more than just have the car behind velvet rope. Toyota will also be taking the car on Goodwood’s famed hillclimb course The GR 86 will make its debut to the public in this dynamic demonstration of agility and handling. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to see the car up close in the Fist Glance Paddock. Toyota will be running the 86 at the festival’s “First Glimpse”, which showcases upcoming road cars.
The 2022 Toyota GR 86 received a complete overhaul inside and out just like its Subaru sibling the BRZ. The 2+2 sports coupe got a more elegant design and a boost in performance. The new 2.4-liter flat four engine produces 228 horsepower (170 Kilowatts) as well as 184 pound-feet (249 Newton meters) of torque. This replaces the 2.0-liter unit in the previous model. It can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.1 seconds, which is 0.9 seconds faster than its predecessor.
Toyota has not provided all details regarding the Goodwood show for the 86, but the company stated that they would provide more information in the coming weeks. The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place at the Goodwood House grounds, West Sussex. The UK will get a chance to see the car at the event, which runs from July 8 through 11. The 2022 Toyota GR 86 in the USA will be available later this year.
