The drought is over.

Forza Motorsport 6 was the last game in the series to feature Toyota roads cars. Forza Horizon 3 had Forza Motorsport 6, while Forza Motorsport 6 featured a variety of racing models. Street-legal Toyota models will be making a comeback with the Series 17 update for Forza Horizon 4, which is scheduled to go live December 12.

The 1998 Supra RZ will be the first to go, but Brian Ekberg, the game’s community manager announced that Toyota’s luxury division Lexus was also included in the deal. He also mentioned that Scion models could be introduced in the future. Jon Knoles, design director, explained why this car was chosen. He said that it’s “everybody’s favorite Supra” and added “there will be more to come.”

It’s great to see street Toyotas returning to Forza, but it’s also worth noting that there are still no models for other popular racing games. The Crew series, Need For Speed Payback, and Heating are all examples of popular racing games that haven’t featured a Toyota model since DiRT3 was released back in 2011.

NFS Heat: You may recall the August tweet by Toyota U.K., which was deleted shortly after, about why they decided to stay away from the game. It stated that it promotes illegal street-racing. Another tweet was published in August: “Officially Toyota Motor Corporation does not have any plans to license its model range for any other games than Gran Turismo Sport.” This means that you will soon be able drive a fourth-gen supra vehicle outside of Polyphony Digital’s game.

You can rest assured that Toyota cars will continue to feature in Forza games. Brian Ekberg stated that they would be there “for years to follow.
