We will launch the website “as soon possible”
Rumours of a revival of the Toyota Supra have circulated for years. However, Tetsuya Taka, chief engineer at GT 86 has confirmed that Toyota President AkioToyoda asked him to “make a successor in the Supra as quickly as possible.”
Tada told Asia One that the company has approved two new sports vehicles, which will be placed above and below the GT86. Tada confirmed that one of the new cars will be the Supra revival. However, the other is still a mystery. It could be the successor to the MR-2, according to speculation.
Although a timetable has not been established, Tada stated that the GT 86 took five years to build and that at least five years are required for all other models. It is expected that the entry-level sports car will be a while off as the Supra successor will have priority.
In related news The Detroit Bureau reports that the Supra could be developed with Tesla. Although the two companies have an established relationship that led to the creation RAV4 EVO, it is probably premature to speculate whether they will collaborate on a Supra successor, especially since BMW and Toyota already announced plans to develop a new sportscar.
