This is something you won’t see every single day.
2JZ – These are the three most sacred letters for hundreds of thousands of Supra enthusiasts around the globe. Inline-six engines from the 1990s were probably Toyota’s most popular. Modern Supras with 2JZ swaps (see related links below) should be enough to prove that. Please, people, be kind to the build that you’re about to read and watch on camera.
We’ve written thousands of automotive articles over the years, and we’ve seen many engine swaps. But nothing like this. This is the Toyota Supra, a modified fourth-generation sports car that was equipped with a diesel Cummins engine. You read that last sentence correctly.
We can see that the main idea was to build an adventure vehicle using a Supra. It sits higher than a stock car and has larger off-road tires. The wheels also have wider arches. The Supra has a roof rack, and it is the only Supra in the world with a towbar. The entire body has been finished in matte black.
We don’t have much information about the engine’s specs, but you can clearly see the massive turbocharger sticking out of the hood. We hear the inline six Cummins diesel running at some point. It sounds like a tank. Another surprise is the Supra’s air suspension. The normal driving height is much lower than the offroad setup.
This is a truly amazing and unique project. While not everyone will like his Supra converted into an off-roader vehicle, those who are passionate about unique builds and ideas will find this project very intriguing.
