The supplier does not know when production might resume.
Due to a COVID-19 epidemic at one of its suppliers, Toyota has suspended production of RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid. According to a statement by the company, the Toyotetsu Plant in Simcoe, Ontario reported eight positive cases within the last few weeks. According to the Simcoe Reformer , there were approximately 10 active cases as of Monday.
Although most cases weren’t linked to on-site transmissions, the company stated that they were following the advice of public health officials. We have decided to temporarily suspend operations for this reason.
Although there is no set date for a return to work, the company indicated that it would take place after May 1. Toyota halted Canadian production due to the inability of these critical components.
Toyota also produces the RAV4 Hybrid North America at their factory in Georgetown, Kentucky.
March 2021 saw the RAV4 Prime as the second-fastest-selling vehicle in the United States. On average, the PHEV crossover was sold in 10.2 days. This was just slightly less than the Chevrolet Corvette, which lasted 9.4 days on average at dealers. The RAV4 Hybrid was 17th in March, sitting on average 22.0 days. The Lexus RX450h ranked 19th with a selling time of 22.9 days. The average vehicle took 47.4 days to sell.
In 2020, the RAV4 was Toyota’s most-sold product in America. The company’s sales were 430,387. This was a decrease of 3.9 percent from the previous year. It sold 101,059 RX units, a 9.0 percent decrease.
