This is not a joke for April Fools’ Day. It’s the real deal.
This might seem like a Photoshop job done by an artist who has too many hours in his day and is fond of vehicle face swaps. This isn’t CGI. These are real photos of a Toyota having a fun time with a BMW. The unique contraption was created by students at Shelby County’s County Career Tech Educational Center, Alabama. It pairs a Tacoma and a 3 Series.
We are specifically looking at a 2001 truck that has a front fascia design different from the one on the 1987 BMW 3 Series (325i). According to the Alabama Auto Show’s Facebook post, these were out-of-commission vehicles that have been transformed into a regular cab first generation Tacoma with an E30 face.Although the final result is eye-catching, some may argue that it wasn’t for the right reasons. The Bimmer treatment has been applied at the front. The wheel center caps have been given the blue-and-white treatment to represent BMW’s corporate badge, which denotes Bavaria’s official colors. Side note: The propeller logo is a myth. It was not originally intended to portray a spinning propeller.
We could do without Punisher’s skulls replacing inner pair of headlights. However, the alignment of the driver’s door is not quite right. It’s a fascinating build that almost no one saw coming. It reminds us of when BMW grilles weren’t visible from the moon. Even though BMW has produced many pickups over the years, none have ever seen production. The E30 was given the ute treatment in 1986, and was used by the factory for approximately 26 years. The company’s April Fools Day prank introduced the E92 with a bed. Both trucks were originally 3 Series convertibles, before being converted to pickup trucks.
In 2019, the most recent show truck was revealed as a four-door ute that was based on the X7 luxurybarge. BMW has not revealed any pickups in the past, but it stated that it does not intend to produce a pickup truck. discontinuing its Nissan Navara-based X-Class after just a few years has taught Mercedes the hard way.
